My answer is yes and no. I would say that a lot of this depends on the cultural context where the individual resides. A lot can be said about social pressures and mental disorders. The answers can come from several angles. For example, if you are a psychiatrist you may say that anyone who suffers from some type of mental disorder was prone to that disorder to start with. If you are an advocacy group, you might say that society has been unfair to youngsters by bombarding their mind with images that they can never achieve, and as a result, these youngsters have to do whatever they can to try to fit in to a larger society in order to get accepted.
